DIY Water Decals

It has been a while I haven't update anything in this blog due to work and all sorts of drama in life. Anyway, today will be a short brief about the idea of turning those foil stickers into water decals. This idea was spontaneous. The story goes...while I was doing Geara Zulu last year, I had quite a challege to paint the emblems and insignias, although in the end I succeeded, but I'am still rambling about how to paint those details the easiest way possible. All of a sudden, this question popped out from my mind "Why not change the foil stickers into water decals instead?" So I began my quest looking online for water decal papers on eBay and not forgetting YouTube as well for DIY tutorials. But I didn't order any because of price issues, its pricey! This year, I joined a group page on FaceBook called 'Brunei Hotwheels Club' and they sure impress me with customizing their diecast vehicles, from paint job to changing wheels and to decals...using custom water decals! Lucky me one of the admin selling them for a reasonable price. So what are the results of trying it myself..here they are

You need a bit of photoshop editing skills before printing it. By means of using a LASER printer that is, and a can of clear acrylic spray. I'am too lazy to explain, you can just YouTube 'water decal paper'.

I'am stopping here, the paper is a clear type, should have go for white.

What turned out gold on paper is actually clear when transfered, too bad. Anyway, its just an experiment, so no fussy about it.

So, one question comes to mind? Is this the solution for the Sinanju? Zulu? or whatever Zeon suits in the Gundam Unicorn series? People are complaining about the complication faced when painting their emblems or insignias. Will this method is a saviour? Up to you.

Gundam: SD OO QanT (WIP2)

Today, I manage to continue some progress doing this kit. I'am quite satisfied with the paint job done on both sides of the head, with the help of grey Gundam marker and a fine tip drawing pen. But, the paint job on the torso didn't seem to match the colour scheme, excluding the yellow. After priming and some very gruelling masking job, this time I'am using Tamiya blue and yellow spray cans. The yellow part is fine but the blue is bit darker. Anyhow, I'am not very fussy about it since its only a SD kit ;)

Gundam: CB-0000G/C Reborns Gundam

Finally! This is one awesome kit. No stickers used here, just paint with a bit of gundam markers and, as usual, panel lined with enamel. The purple on the head and chest piece was a result of mixing blue and red gundam markers, it turned out to be quite O.K, although a bit dark. However, there are few areas I'am not bother to paint and just skip it.

This suit reflects the pilot; Ribbons Almark, an androgynous appearance of both feminine and masculine. Here, a Gundam with high heels?

Reborns Cannon coversion...extend the shoulders so the head can be lowered down the body and pops out the Cannon's head at the back.

Unfortunately, you have to remove the hands, rotate the arms, the fit in the Cannon's funny looking three fingered hands.

Some neat mechanical feature for the legs, swivel it backwards and the sides extend outwards.

The only paint job I skipped was on the front skirt. They should be a bit of a light yellow, I did try mixing yellow and white Gundam markers but it turned out uneven. So I left that part out.

Just put everything in reverse to get back to Gundam mode.

My next built, Reborns Gundam. Done with the torso, hands and the Reborns Cannon head. Also panel lines with enamel still in progress.

No foil stickers here, just paint with green metallic gundam marker.

Today, I went somewhere on planet earth and visit this local toyshop selling some cheap and more likely, some old and out of production toys, and to my surprise, I found this vintage toy called 'CUPCAKES'. I remember watching it on TV toy commercials during the early 90's and this is no exceptional. Being the only piece on the shelf and with price tag of BND $9.80, I decided to grab it for my daughter and she like it so much. I checked eBay, and its definitely to be a VHTF (Very Hard To Find) item nowadays.

Date of production; 1990!

Cupcakes conversion...No legs here, the petticoat is made up of some stiff rubber-like plastic. So it stands on its petticoat.

After my daughter done playing with her (sooner or later), you know kids! they tend to lose interest quickly if there's something new, I planned to put it back in its clamshell case and treasure it. For the mean time, I let her enjoying her playtime moment.

Ago, I stumbled upon somebody's blog doing a review on this kit and it inspired me to get one in whatever means necessary. Lucky for me, a friend of mine still have some boxed SD Songokudens, including this kit. So, instead of getting it online, I bought it from 'her' for a reasonable price. It saves me money and time. Lucky me!

Just snapfitted. No paints and decals yet.

I think I have a good idea to deal with this foil stickers. Not now, but soon!

This is what inspired me so much to get this kit; the 'Nightingale' mode.

Done! I'am a bit on a layback mood nowadays. I only did a bit of seam line removal and some minor paint jobs for the eyes, legs, GN drive and also some panel lines with enamel. Overall, its nice and simple kit, colour schemes are very outstanding and what amazes me the most is its articulation. I don't want to talk long about it here but you can watch the reviews on YouTube.

Another snapfit kit. This time its Hiling Care's Garazzo. I use enamel paint to do the panel lines and some minor painting on the shoulders. I prefer Bring Stabity's Garazzo colour scheme, anyway, its still a Garazzo though.

I'm in the mood for another snapfit and this kit has been stacked up high along with my other unassembled Gundam kits that I harbour last year. No painting and decals here, just some glue and seam line removing.

First off, it took me one whole day to finish this kit yesterday, no painting or decaling yet, just snapfitting, sanding and abit of glue and seamline removing. Overall, its a nice kit, although not made by BANDAI, this kit deserve some credit. The quality is pretty much decent and nearly as good as BANDAI. Parts and pieces are well molded, coloured and fits nicely (although I do see some stress marks on some areas). You can't get any other SD models larger than this (may be), its like a MG version of a SD kit , LED + batteries also included for the mono eye. Its money well spent.

I decided to fit all the metal thrusters and funnels. It made the Nightingale heavier than usual. If not for the rear 'tail', it would fall on its back.

Carefully fitted and balanced on the action base, otherwise it will toppled down.

The LED, simple gimmick.

Bought this gatling gun by Kotobukiya lastweek. The barrel rotates by means of a spring coil that you need to wind up at the rear. Cool feat!

Since Nigtingale does not have any extra hands for holding a gun or a saber like any other Gunpla kits, I crafted one by using a bootleg and fit it on the right arm to hold the gatling gun, although its abit loose. Now Nightingale got a new gatling gun in its weaponry. However the arm cannot handle the weight.

My package arrived today. After reading and viewing blogs and wordpresses from others and watching reviews on youtube about this kit, I decided to get one from eBay. I must say, I'am a bit impress with the size. Its huge. I bought it for a hefty price of BND $75.++ including shipping. But there's a catch, this purchase is a package. You can get it cheaper if its a regular. The actual package comes with metal decals and some metal option parts, but I requested the seller to exchange from metal to water decals, and with no extra charge, the seller agreed. Oh yeah! I forgot, its from Hongkong. If you want to know more reviews and see pictures of this kit, then google it or watch it on youtube.

The LED for the mono eye, plus with batteries too. Sweet!

Another built. Today I'am 90% done with the head. No stickers used here. It was so painstaking when comes to masking. I wish it was fully coloured or partially so I don't waste too much time on masking. The head alone required me to mask twice, for the grey and then black on each sides. Oh yeah! I didn't use Gundam markers, just spray paint.

This year 2011 Treasure Hunt series will be altogether 15 diecasts to collect. I managed to get 6 so far (currently, 2 more on their way) and that makes 7 more to go. Apparently, I'am aiming for shortcarded ones and its only available in the European market. Anyway, I bought these from eBay U.K and the only thing I don't like is, it takes about a month to arrive from the U.K, comparing to 2 weeks from the U.S, just for the sake of getting shortcards.

I began to wonder, if there's a new Samba, then the classic Samba might possibly be ancient one day, so before it went out of line, I grabbed these two as a remembrance.

A bit overstatement on that limited ed. part, you can still search for it on eBay though.

Gundam: Graham's Union Flag Custom (WIP 4)

First off, this built is a total failure. Why? It cannot change to flight mode because I over glued the torso. Then I discovered a bad stress mark on one of the wings, actually the wing bends a little but I managed to fix it (most probably during shipment because the box got crumpled when I received it). I might have to re-order a new one in the near future. I still haven't fully painted this kit yet. I just primed the shoulders.

After a month been inside the box, I decided to open it and take some snap shots pictures, but I don't remove fasterners.

Is this smoked? Dark gray?

Rear trunk can be open.

Also the front hood.

Overall, its a nice piece, however there are some few imperfections on the paint job. I give it a 7/10.

Another Smurf and its not a plush, but a vinyl. This is NOT from Hasbro's Mighty Muggs series. Its from a brand called Jakks-Pacific. A copy cat of Mighty Muggs? Anyway, won this item for just less than USD $20 on eBay. A nice additional to my previous Smurf.

I'am in the mood for another Gunpla to be assembled. This time I choose Graham Aker's Union Flag Custom to be next after Masurao. For today, I'am done with the head, its too small and delicate. No foil stickers here on the face, its clear orange plastic and I just painted silver on the back and black on the top. With a pin vise, I drilled and use a pin head for the mono eye. It turned out to be O.K. To be continued.

Another package arrived. I expect the Chevys, but I was wrong. Its Hotwheels 2010 Batmobile and the best part is, its short carded. Price? Around USD $8.25. The seller still got some more of these as I just now checked eBay. This is item 3/15. I bet tomorrow another package will arrive? May be.

M.A.S.K Hurricane

Another vintage toy arrived. Make it, item 2/15 eBay purchases arrived. Price? About USD $70+ including express shipping. This time, its M.A.S.K Hurricane and the best part is, its a Chevy 57. Although its not mint (what to expect from a 20+ year old toy), it only had some minor wear on the chromes and some scratches, nothing is broken, the mechanism still work and the colour still outstanding. Only this time, no instruction paper and catalogue included (unlike Buzzard). Box got crumpled during shipping though. Reason for purchase? I love vintage toys and (for me) the 80's is the golden era. Plus I like Chevy 57. Its so classic. Up 'til now, I'am still waiting 3 more Hotwheels' Chevy 57 yet to arrive. Hopefully the local post office didn't screw up.

Done. Can't do much articulation and poses which I dare not to do because I heard squeaks and snapping sounds on the stiff joints when I tried. I assumed the 'flat' is the reason for that, too much? May be. Those polycaps adhered to parts like a super glue. Also the design itself is more likely to be prone to breaks and snapoffs. In other words, its fragile. I'am now done with this kit. I wish there's an MG version of it.

Went to my other residential home and got a taste of playing the latest Sony PS3 Gran Turismo 5. Before that, presenting the Tomica Limited Lancer Evo X. Comes with rubber tyres and, I'am surprised that it has some sort of springs or suspensions on all the wheels. I'd say, I give it a 7/10 overall. I'am still waiting for the regular version to arrive.

After playing a few rounds with my brother, I must say, this is the cheapest and safest way to own your dream car and to drive flatout 350km/hr and crashed without getting a scratch (Virtually). The audios and graphics (for me) is a 9/10, including the package.

The Smurfs, if you grew up in the early 80's, you might remember this classic cartoon series. Anyway, my 1/13 eBay purchases arrived today, I didn't expect this one to arrive sooner because it was on second in the my eBay purchase list. I wonder what happened to the first item? Delayed? Lost? I'am wondering. Perhaps I should give it a week more before I open a case. I won this item for just USD$32.83 including shipping. A good bargain indeed. Enjoy the pics.

These are classics. It has survived through time, play wear and already worn out. The surviving remnants of my past from the U.K in the early 80's. Toys during that era are mostly GENUINE. Unlike today, where some toys are produced either under license or being manufactured overseas, probably to save costs, economic wise.

Lastly, bought this plastic encase for BND$2.50 at a shop called CUTEPACK. The idea was...

To keep my HotWheels Ecto-1 mint, it fits perfectly. Too bad I couldn't find a bigger size for my Kamen Riders. Perhaps someday. As for Ecto-1, it will be mint, dust-free and in tip-top condition always for so many years to come. Hopefuly.

Bought these 2 at CH this morning, a Revoltech ZOIDS Geno Breaker and SHFiguarts Kamen Rider V3.

Actually, this is my first Revoltech figure. Nice additional to my ZOIDS collection (Too bad this one is not motorized). If I'am not mistaken, the Geno Breaker is an update version of the Geno Saurer, both can be seen in the "ZOIDS Chaotic Century" anime series.

Went to Giant at Rimba this morning and, as predicted, the Hotwheels get a top-up. Well, a bit dissapointed since its still displaying the 2010 wave but I'am lucky enough to snatch the T-Hunt Gangster Grin straight away. Also not forgetting the Gundam Converge GN Flag I bought a few weeks back from CH, too bad I did not managed to get the Robot Damashii version since its stop production for sometime, and how silly of me of not buying it straight away while keeping it in my eBay watchlist, until somebody snatched the last piece away from my grasp. Luckily, I'am in the process of negotiating with someone to sell it to me for a reasonable price that is. Hopefully I'am lucky.

I guess collecting toys becoming a hardcore hobby for some nowadays. But to what extent? In my view, toys are meant for entertainment and fun. It rekindles your childhood instincts everytime you come across having one. Now that is what I called 'sentimental values', reminiscents of your childhood plus the feeling of fun and joy that goes along with it. Seriously, the way I see it now totally changes my perspective about this hobby. Currently, its more like a stiff competition and sometime can be quite hostile. One try to beat one another. Why and what for? Where's the fun and joy of doing such? Some may even resorted to the extreme or play dirty by telling their so-called 'supplier' to not to sell, especially new arrivals, to others just for the sake of getting the exclusive for themselves first. The objective is to beat others? How ironic. Also I noticed that some even brag or boast about who's got alot or who's got it first, yeah right! Frankly speaking, I don't believe in 'investment' on toys, why? Open the window and look outside the realworld. There are people outhere doing the same thing, probably the same hobby but not the mentality or mindset. So, what are the chances of hoping to be a thousand or million richer? Dream on. I don't get it. Am I missing something? or its just that some may just missing a big chunk of their childhood lives. I've been there, done that, but to have that sort of mentality and mindset to beat others is beyond comprehension. Again, toys are meant for entertainment and fun. Not more nor less.

Can't wait for this one to arrive straight from Japan, hopefully in 2 weeks time. I humbly mailed the seller to re-list the item back and buy it now immediately. Price? BND $24.xx from eBay.

Hotwheels Stockar from the Race World series - Earth. Bought it last week at the Giant.

There are 4 altogether to collect. I'am missing the third, which is Paradigm Shift. Getting there, perhaps, or just skip it.

Found this Basic Fun retro-style ray gun keychain . I bought it at Hua Ho Yayasan a couple of years back. Oh, and I lost the back card, its opened and the sparks still work. The back card image below I got it from eBay anyway.

Its too fancy to be use as a keychain. In the end, I intend to keep it.

This is not new. Infact its the first toyline from the movie HULK back in 2003 and I kept it under cling wraps since then. But today, I decided to open it and let my son play with it. The cling wraps theory did the job well of keeping it dust-free and mint.

Well, the cling wraps did keep the dust at bay but as for battery life? Too bad, this hulk has lost its roar.

Fastfood toy set collection, whoever bother to collect them anyway? I do. After considering the pros and cons, do's and don't, sell or not, apparently, I was surprised that someone interested buying them for NOT absolutely free (for a reasonable price that is). An oppurtunity cost in economic terms? Probably yes. I still do love them but to think about the diminishing spaces I had left at my home and my own room, and I'am getting old (Average lifespan: 80 years) which means that I have about 50+ years to live HAHAHA. By the time I'am writing this, I'am still looking for bits and pieces of them scattered somewhere. Below are the ones that are complete and good condition. I may go through them again thoroughly whether I keep some or letting them all go. Out with the old, in with the new?

Lets just say that I'am done with this kit. The only flaw was that the shield is in a poor state due to a poor painting job at the moment. I moded the saber with a bootleg and washed the whole kit with grey water colour pallete. Besides, you can re-wash it again with water to make it clean again. No harm done to the paint though.

Scriber? Tile Cutter?

A few weeks back, while I was doing my SD O Gundam, I was thinking about getting myself a scriber and not long after that I browsed eBay and ended up buying this. What I thought is an actual scriber is actually a tile cutter. At first I thought I was duped, besides, even at a local hardware store I can get this for a cheaper price. Perhaps the seller should have describe the item with more details so buyers know what they are looking at before making a purchase. It was never mentioned as a 'tile cutter'. It only describe as a 6 inch carbide pen scriber. But, when I decided to give it a try on some bootleg Gundam parts, it changed my perception entirely. I guess if you want to be a modeler or a craftsmen you don't have to believe or stick to what the book says. Creativity is the keyword.

Too bad I ran out of paint and having mood swings, HAHA! Whats left are the gun, sword and shield. Current progress? Using glitter glue on the GN wings (or whatever they call it). You can't see much glitter effect here (bad lighting), however in perfect lighting condition, then you will see what I'am talking about.

Toy Story Emperor Zurg (in monochrome) by TOMY. Bought in the early 2k. Unopened.

Speed Racer by a brand called 'Mach V'. I got this for a cheap price of BND $13.50. Same like Zurg, bought in the early 2k. However this was opened (for a test drive) but I encased it back using cling wraps. But, just to share with you readers outhere, I reopened it again for a photo session.

If you put in the battery and turn it ON, you will see some hopping action like in this picture below. Notice the front wheels springs into action.

This is a cheap toy, you can still get it from eBay. Below is the picture of the undercarriage where the ON and OFF switch is located.

Nearly done. I find it quite complicated to paint the minute details on legs and arms (using markers and acrylics) and I hate leaving behind brush strokes. I rather do the whole thing again for just to be neat and perfect. After reading some tips and guidelines, I resorted using enamel that I bought recently and it works. Although some say enamel is 'old-school', if you done it right, you will see a smooth and stroke-free paint job. As for acrylics (in my experience) they tend to dry quickly and leaving brush strokes visible unless you add some 'paint retarder' that slows the drying process (which I haven't buy yet) and you are good at using acrylics. Will do an experiment on acrylics with paint retarder in future built.

Went to my 'storage' and found; Nope! These are not from Toy Story 3 or 2 . Infact its from the first Toy Story movie. However there are some signs of wear due its age. Vintage? Most probably.

Buzz Lightyear's electronic still works. Only the wings' mechanical didn't work quite well and its fixable.

Woody's pull string is also still functional.

I guess no one would believe me that these Ultraman figures collection came from Nestle's Wonder Cup ice cream that I bought (and ate) 8 years ago. Most likely you can't find it sold anywhere nowadays. Although I didn't collect the whole set but 4 of them are still unopened.

Slow progress, painted the torso and fitted the shoulders, there are few inconsistencies, especially at the back due to its miniature size. I'am having difficulties painting in some areas while on the same time covering up those inconsistencies. May be Bandai should produce these SD series in 1/144 scale for easy painting. Well, thats a thought.

Got this kit for a good bargain; $15 only.

Went to Best Eastern at Hua Ho Manggis. Currently they are displaying this Super Hero Collection series. Each comic comes with its own character. It looks even more worthy if you're planning to get the whole set. In my case...

I use a labelling tape as a guide to scribe panel lines, learned from Gundam Guy. Although I don't have a scriber, I came up with a simple idea of using a sharpen sewing and compass needles. It was a bit unorthodox but you never know unless you try. Consider this to be an experiment.

Gundam: Mr. Bushido's Ahead

First off, this is how it should look like.

This is my version of Mr. Bushido's Ahead.

I mentioned about modifications on the back thrusters using a cable tie in my previous post. Well, I made some 'vents' inside the thrusters, its not that much but it does make it more detailed. Those thrusters were actually hollow. So I measured and cut a white, medium sized cable tie and painted it yellow as a base colour then dash it with metallic red. Then I cut some left-over runners and glued them inside the thrusters so the 'vents' would not go deep, except for on the skirts. You may notice that I skipped painting orange for the 'flaps' on the thrusters because after several attempts painting them, it didn't achieved what I expected. So the mods are to compensate the 'flaps'.

As for the two beam sabers (Howard and Daryl), applying the same painting method used for the thrusters.

However, there are flaws. I didn't remove the seam lines on the upper part of the legs and some haste masking job resulting some minute imperfections. Its unnoticeable but overall, I'am quite satisfied and may be so do Graham Aker :)

Went to my 'other' residential place and took the liberty to try out PS3 Guitar Hero. My first attempt to be a rock star turned out horribly ugly. I laugh myself out. Those hands are not meant to 'play' a guitar although I can pose like an amateur guitarist. But hey! you never know unless you try. Above all, I enjoyed the music tracks preferably from Metallica.

Managed to get some photos of these Gasaphon. Both from Singapore during my last trip.

The 'toy shop' at the 'Mall' just updated their Gundams I heard. I was being told that Susanowo is on the list, so I scrambled to the place to get this kit to avoid disappointment of being too late. There is also a Trans-Am version but I'am not into it. If I'am not mistaken, this is the second last piece I saw in the stacks of Gundams being sold, apart from Trans-Am version that is.

I'am a fan of Graham Aker (Mr. Bushido). Planning to collect all Mobile Suits piloted by him. 3 more to go; Union Flag, Over Flag and GN Flag. I'am getting there!

I like HG? To be honest, I don't mind about Gundam grades actually. One thing is for sure is I do love and buy Gundam plakits based on their characters or legion regardless of what grades they are. Watched the anime, love the characters and their Gundams and buy their plakits afterwards. Thats it. Some may bragging about MG's, PG's or whatever grades outhere but to the extent of 'loving' and 'knowing' the anime plus the characteristics and info of the plakits, I doubt it. Anyhow, by the end of the day, its your Gundam 'works' that counts, not the grades unlikely.

Slow progress today, finish sanding and painting the the upper body and the left arm only. Worst still, I ran out of paint. Not much colour used on this kit as the colour scheme is too minimum. I only use Tamiya's Gun Metal and Metallic Red, probably orange soon for parts on the chest and sides.

I'am in the mood to built a Gundam and Mr. Bushido's Ahead is so lucky to be chosen. Anyway, Just for today, I've done the head with reworking the tip of the chin, make it a bit longer. Since I don't have or haven't bought plaplates yet, I use a bootleg Gundam as plaplates. Bootlegs can be useful sometimes and it works!

One thing I don't like about is the face. Bandai should have made it as a seperate piece for easy painting. I'am having a hard time painting those yellow eyes with a toothpick and using a panel line marker to do the outline. But overall, I'am happy with the eyes done perfectly.

The tip of the horns also sharpen.

Transformers: Hasbro's 25 Years Anniversary Insecticons

Tonight, after months spending its life on the shelf, I decided to open it. This is more likely a repost from the previous. Anyhow, I got this from eBay and the seller padded the package with strips of newspapers and, to my surprise, a Walmart plastic bag. Instead of throwing it away, I decided to keep it.

I felt a bit disappointed to see Hasbro changed their names in this re-issue. But hey, I still remember their original names...

After thinking about keeping it mint and vintage, I decided not to remove them from their plastic encase. As usual, this will be cling wrapped, shelved and treasured.

One more thing, since Toy Story 3 premier is just around the corner, I got some free time to snap some pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Potato that I bought recently and a couple of years back. The Potatoes are characters from the Toy Story trilogy. Both Potatoes appeared in Toy Story 1 and 2 previously and the upcoming sequel is no exceptional. Planning to 'foraging' my vintage Woody and Buzz from Toy Story 1 in near future. Anyway, both Potatoes I bought below are from the local shopping store. I guess you know where it is.

This is my favourite Mr. Potato set. Bought it in Singapore a few years ago. It was this Potato that made me reminiscence my childhood days. How do I know Mr. Potato? Ago, I mean 23 years ago, I bought Mr. Potato colouring book but I never watched the cartoon as it was never aired on local TV channel. As time fly by and I grew up, I never thought about getting the real Mr. potato toy myself after so many years until I stumbled on to this. Its quite a tale to tell. Although currently there are variations like Transformers and Iron Man, I'am not into it. It doesn't have that sentimental value. For me, the classic Mr. Potato is the real Mr. Potato that I knew 23 years ago. No offence.

Finally, my MSM-03C Hy-gogg.

Its weapon; 2 missiles and pods. Here, there's a reason why 1 pod only is shown.

Like I said, 1 pod only because I accidentally glued a piece of the right hand therefore it cannot be removed. You need to remove that piece to install the pod. I overlook the manual. A big mistake.

Forgot to mention I skipped the decals. I'am done with this kit. Overall, its a nice kit, alien looking, brightly coloured and the name Hy-gogg suits its character as an amphibious mobile suit, not forgetting zeon's trademark, the mono eye. Well, thats how I think it is.

Gundam: MSM-03C HY-GOGG (WIP 2)

Done both arms and thrusters. Can't do much today. Waste too much time on reworking and rewashing the arms. Screwed up a bit as a result of washing after sanding. Its a big NO! The paint wash becomes permanent and hard to remove. A troublesome for detail and weathering. Rubbing with methanol or thinner will not help at all. I have to sand it until the right weathering is achieved. What a day.

Started doing this kit not long after I finished Geara Zulu. Planning not to do much on it. Just snap fitted, scarred and washed.

Making so called 'scars' by jab and prick the parts.

And now washing. Here, I use some cheap methanol (alcohol or spirit or whatever you call it) instead of thinner to dilute the black acrylic paint. Hey! It works. It doesn't have to be expensive.

After it dried and settled. Wipe or buff it lightly with a tissue with a bit of methanol. If its too light, re-washed it again until the right colour depth and tone achieved.

These are also washed.

Anyhow, still a long way to go.

The only survivor from Silver Hawks, a cartoon series of the 80's. A villain named 'Hardware' and its bird partner 'prowler'.

Two characters from the cartoon series Toxic Crusaders in the 90's. Also villain characters named 'Psycho' and 'Dr. Killemoff'.

TMNT's Leonardo and the transformable Raphael. Both from the 90's.

These are new. I only bought Superman and Batman because they are so classic characters.

Lastly, this solution works for those classic vintages. It makes them shine, glossy and clean.

Freebie From Shewsbury Land

Before that, finish doing my Gunshot King Giroro. I had issues about painting, scraping and repaint it again several times because its so damn small. No decals here, just using Gundam markers.

I'am so delighted and surprised after receiving a message from David John, the owner and author of Shewsbury Land that I've won the June 2010 Freebies V1. I felt lucky enough to won it by a slightly narrow margin. It was close, but again, I'am lucky. Met up with the author himself albeit the rain to pick up my prize. Very unproductive day for me. Too busy doing something else. This is the only part I managed to finish in the early morning. Nothing much though.

Since I don't have a sandblock and the sandings are done either by hand or using a pen or pencil or something and wrapped with sand paper all around it. All of a sudden I came up with this 'innovative' idea of using ice cream sticks glued half-way together. Not much to say, I guess the pictures can tell you how its made.

Today, finish assembling, paint and flat coated both arms. Now, working on the legs and weapons. On a personal note, those vapour fumes from the sprays sure makes you high though. I felt like I'am on weed.
